Mim Estate is in the Darjeeling region of northern India. The genus of the
Darjeeling tea bush is the Chinese Jat which gives it the distinctive muscatel
character. This is a high grown tea (> 6,800 feet) so the air is relatively cool
making the plants grow slowly. The cooler air limits yield but dramatically
improves quality. Quality peaks during the "second flush," which begins at
the end of May and runs through the end of June. During this time
Darjeeling's are incomparable to any other tea in the world. Due to the
superb taste and limited production, "second flush" Darjeeling's are often
more expensive. Independent studies have shown this tea contains an
abundance of polyphenols with concentrations of 13% by dry weight.
Mim Estate black tea has higher antioxidants than most green teas.
Finally a black tea with all the benefits of a green tea!
