Many people don't even know what a scone is let alone how to make scones. Scones are a type of pastry that is often served at breakfast or with tea. Traditional English scones slightly resemble American biscuits but scones tend to be a bit sweeter, and can also incorporate additional ingredients.
The term scone has been in use since at least the 16th century. Regardless of its origin, scones can easily be made at home for a perfect snack with milk but of course we prefer them with tea. Scottish varieties include soda scones, made with a mixture of flour buttermilk, baking soda and salt or try some of our additional recipes for treacle, potato, and griddle scones. These types of scones are cooked on a griddle rather than baked.
