  • Formosa Kangaroo Lapsang is one of the finest lapsang's in the world. Tea producers in Taiwan have perfected the Chinese tradition in making this remarkable tea.  Lapsang Souchong is known for its distinct flavor, sometimes referred to as "tarry" and its heady aroma. Formosa Kangaroo Lapsang produces a smooth and deep flavorful cup with delectable hints of a smoky pine fire.  The freshly plucked  leaves are withered over open fires to absorb the smoke and produce what many refer to as an "assertive" flavor. The tea leaves are pan fired to slow the oxidation process and individually hand rolled.  Once rolled, the leaves are pressed into wooden barrels, covered with cloth and allowed to fully oxidize.  Once the oxidization has completed,  the leaves are re-rolled lengthwise into tight strips and placed in bamboo baskets, which are hung over burning pine boughs.  As they dry, the leaves further develop their rich smoky flavor. Lapsang is generally consumed with milk or sugar depending on one's palate but don't miss trying it  'straight up'.
